A fugitive Barbary macaque has been apprehended in an apple tree near the Birnau Basilica in southern Germany.
The runaway primate had been on the loose for several days
The macaque, which had escaped from a nearby animal enclosure, was first spotted in the area on Friday.
Police and animal control officers were called to the scene and were able to capture the animal without incident.
The macaque was uninjured and has been returned to its enclosure
The macaque, which is native to North Africa, is now back in its enclosure at the Affenberg Salem, a wildlife park in the region.
The park's staff is relieved to have the animal back and are thankful to the police and animal control officers for their help.
