NBA Draft Lottery to Level Odds for Top Picks
New System Aims to Create Parity at Draft's Top
The NBA has announced a new system for the 2024 Draft Lottery that will level the odds for the teams with the three worst records. Previously, the team with the worst record had a 25% chance of winning the No. 1 pick, the team with the second-worst record had a 19.9% chance, and the team with the third-worst record had a 15.6% chance.
Under the new system, all three teams will have a 14% chance of winning the No. 1 pick. The team with the fourth-worst record will have a 12.5% chance, the team with the fifth-worst record will have an 11.5% chance, and so on.
Lottery to Air Live on ABC
The 2024 NBA Draft Lottery will take place on Sunday, May 12, at 3 p.m. ET on ABC. The 14 teams that did not make the playoffs will participate in the lottery, with the top three teams receiving the highest odds of winning the No. 1 pick.
